As the Principal Physiotherapist, Nikki has over sixteen years experience in working in the area of orofacial pain and head, neck and shoulder disorders and established About Faces Physiotherapy in 2004, after seeing a need for comprehensive assessment and treatment in this specialised area.
When not treating patients, Nikki is Mum to to two busy preshcoolers. Nikki completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Western Acupuncture at AUT in 2002 and a Masters of Health Practice (Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy) (1st class Hons) in 2006. Nikki is the only New Zealand Physiotherapist who is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Orofacial Pain (ANZAOP).
She is an Executive Committee member of the Physiotherapy Acupuncture Association of New Zealand and teaches needling around the head and neck on the AUT Postgraduate Western Acupuncture course as well as teaching Dry Needling courses with Trevor Montgomery. She recently attended the 6th International Congress on Temporomandibular Disorders in Las Vegas, USA.
KIM CUSACK
Physiotherapist
We are pleased to welcome Kim Cusack (Fulltime Physiotherapist) to About Faces Physiotherapy. Kim qualified with a BSc (1st Class Hons) Physiotherapy in 2012 from University College Dublin, Ireland. At undergraduate level she underwent a period of volunteer work with a Physiotherapy service in New Delhi, India.
In 2011 she was fortunate to secure further experience in Hillcrest Medical Centre in San Diego, California working in the Neuro-Rehabilitation, Burns and Musculoskeletal Departments. Kim moved to New Zealand in 2013 and has been working as a Physiotherapist and Clinical Pilates Instructor. Within this role she incorporated knowledge of musculoskeletal physiotherapy and exercise rehabilitation to provide a dynamic service to the community. She has undergone certificate training in Mulligan mobilisation and McKenzie Methods of Mechanical Diagnostic Therapy as well as Dry Needling training.
Kim treats all musculoskeletal conditions but has a particular interest in head, face and shoulder conditions and a drive to provide holistic treatment which addresses the underlying cause of dysfunction. When not working she enjoys Pilates, tramping and exploring the New Zealand countryside.
